August 2025 – The Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC), through its Exploration Department, launched its Monthly Technical Workshops Program in collaboration with Camco, an Edgo company. The first sessions were held at NOC’s headquarters in Tripoli, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and showcasing Camco’s advanced technical capabilities in support of Libya’s energy sector. 

Camco delivered two key presentations: Introduction to Wireline Log Analysis and Practical Petrophysical Interpretation and Achieving High Hydrocarbon Production Through Effective Reservoir Navigation – Case Studies from Libya. The sessions addressed formation evaluation methods, practical petrophysical workflows, and best practices in reservoir navigation, with the objective of improving well performance and production. 

A major focus was Camco’s expertise in directional drilling. The company highlighted its use of the Rotary Steerable System (RSS) AutoTrak™ for precise directional control and reservoir targeting, supported by advanced logging-while-drilling technologies such as VisiTrak™, LithoTrak™, and MagTrak™, which enable accurate geo-steering within productive zones. 

One case study from western Libya demonstrated the impact of this integrated approach. By optimizing directional drilling in combination with a geomechanically study of fracture orientations, Camco achieved an initial test flow of approximately 8,500 barrels per day (bpd) from an exploration well. 

The workshop also marked an important milestone with the first-time application of Through-Drill-Pipe wireline logging (TDL) using COMPACT technology in Libya. This advancement introduced new methods to the country’s exploration activities and underscored Camco’s commitment to technical innovation. 

The Monthly Technical Program establishes a structured initiative aimed at sharing advanced technologies and practical insights with NOC professionals, particularly in formation evaluation and reservoir characterization. 

The sessions were recognized by NOC as highly relevant and impactful, underscoring the strength of Camco’s technical expertise and its alignment with Libya’s operational priorities. Camco extends its appreciation to the National Oil Corporation for its trust and leadership, with this partnership establishing a strong platform for sustained collaboration and technical advancement in Libya’s energy sector.
